How to use this calculator
Measure the elevator’s clear door opening and usable cabin width, height and depth. Exclude handrails and other protrusions from the usable interior. Enter the item’s outer dimensions.
Formula and assumptions
Minimum of all tested clearances
Subtract the item dimension and twice the allowance from each matching opening or interior dimension. An orientation clears only when every remainder is zero or positive. Choose the orientation with the largest minimum remainder.
A door-only result checks a cross section, not the travel length. Interior tools also check item depth. For a door plus interior, the same orientation must satisfy every dimension.
Worked example
For a 160 × 80 × 60 cm item, an 85 × 200 cm door and a 110 × 210 × 180 cm cabin, side-first upright uses 60 × 80 × 160 cm. At 1 cm per edge, the minimum remaining clearance is 18 cm in cabin depth.
Before you move
This model assumes a straight approach with the same orientation through the opening and inside. Check load capacity, door closing clearance, corridor turns and building moving rules separately.
A fit estimate is not a route simulation. It does not account for corners, stairs, lifting room, weight limits or diagonal maneuvers.
Frequently asked questions
Can I squeeze it through diagonally?
This tool only tests axis-aligned straight positions. A failed check does not prove a diagonal maneuver is impossible. Ask your mover to assess the actual item and route.
What does clearance per edge mean?
A 1 cm allowance removes 2 cm from each opening dimension: one allowance at each edge. The displayed remainder is extra space after that allowance.
Are these dimensions product specifications?
No. Default dimensions are illustrative examples. Measure the actual item, including fixed handles, feet and packaging.
Rectangular straight-pass estimates only. Check the entire route and confirm difficult moves with a professional.
